"Precision Agriculture is a management strategy that gathers, processes and analyzes temporal, spatial and individual data and combines it with other information to support management decisions according to estimated variability for improved resource use efficiency, productivity, quality, profitability and sustainability of agricultural production.” - International Society for Precision Agriculture (ISPA).
What makes a good precision agriculture program?
When developing a precision agriculture program for a farm there a a few questions that should be asked:
1. What drives variability on the farm?
2. Do you have the resources to manage a precision agriculture program on the farm?
3. What goal(s) are you trying to achieve in implementing a precision agriculture program on your farm?
4. Do you have accurate and reliable data to develop program?
